Biography

Patricia G. Becker is the principal consultant for PGBEC Consulting Ltd., which specializes in Healthcare Information Technology Consulting.

Pat has thirty years of executive healthcare information technology experience. Her experience covers all aspects of information technology including strategic planning, budget and operations, product specification, product delivery, internal customer services, external client support, and management of outsourced resources.

Most recently she was the Vice President of Technology Services, Chief Information Officer, and Chief Privacy Officer at University HealthSystem Consortium (UHC). UHC is a healthcare alliance of the clinical enterprise of 107 academic medical centers. An idea-generating and information disseminating enterprise, UHC helps its members pool resources, create economies of scale, improve clinical and operating efficiencies, and influence the direction and delivery of health care.

Before joining UHC, Pat was employed at the University of Chicago Hospitals and Health Systems for 19 years in various Information Services management positions. In 1993, she was appointed the Vice President of Information Systems and the Chief Information Officer.

Pat has an MBA in management systems from DePaul University and a Bachelor's Degree in sociology from the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Pat is currently an Adjunct Professor at Northwestern University in the School of Studies, Masters of Medical Informatics program.

She is a Commissioner of the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology. As a Fellow in Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), she is currently serving on the Patient Safety and Quality Outcomes Committee.

Pat has spoken frequently at UHC and HIMSS meetings.
